The Sancho Saga | Details

 "Here We Go"

So after nearly 2 years and 4 transfer windows Manchester United have finally signed English winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia dortmund.

On 1st July 2021, Ed Woodward finally treated Man Utd fans to the long awaited signing of Jadon Sancho. Arguably called the 3rd best youngster in the world after Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, Sancho will add amazing strength to the attack of Manchester United with Rashford on his left, Cavani in the centre and Bruno Fernandes behind him with Paul Pogba. This Manchester United totally now look like title contenders.

In this article we look at the details of his contract with United. :

The Details:

  • Sancho has cost Manchester United a fee of 73m plus add ons from Borussia Dortmund.
  • Contract has been signed till 2026 with a special clause to extend up till 2027.
  • A certain undisclosed agent fees has been agreed with Sancho's agent Emeka Obassi.
  • As reported by The Athletic, Sancho will earn approximately 230k/week.
  • The Blue half of Manchester will also be receiving close to 13m for the sale of their former young player.
  • Lastly, the medicals and unveiling of Sancho will be done when the Brit returns from international duty at the Euro's.

How does he fit in?

Well, this is probably the simplest thing for Man Utd the have needed a strong commanding winger who can dictate play on his own for a long time. The last world class wingers they had (excluding Rashford) were Luis Nani, Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Ji Sung Park; all being a long long time ago. They had several flop winger signings like Alexis Sanchez(70m), Henrik Mkhitriyan(30m), Memphis Depay(25), Di Maria(70M), etc.
If Man Utd can manage to sign a Centre Back along with Sancho they can be the real deal next season and maybe even challenge for the Champions League.
This is our preferred Manchester United team for next season:

*Varane is close to signing and he is a player United could get easily. He would also be a huge upgrade to Victor Lindelof

Conclusion:

All in all Sancho is a great signing and a great way for Ed Woodward to finally make a possibly competent and world class singing. Sancho was valued at 120m last year by Dortmund and although this deal took to long to be completed it was wrapped up for 73m which is great when compared to its initial price.
