"The Ramos Saga"
Popularly called as one of the greatest defenders of all time and arguably the 3rd best player of the 2010's-Sergio Ramos- is now going to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season after 16 glorious years.Ramos has bid farewell to the club after a sort of tiff with the board and specially owner Florentino Perez.
Press Release:
While giving his statement on Thursday, Ramos said several things which has made the already hated Perez look even more villain like. Excerpts:
- "We’ve just come out of a really emotional, special, intimate event. I expressed my thanks to all of them and also want to thank you media representatives for having accompanied me during this marvellous chapter”
- "I’ve won loads of silverware and it’s true that after leaving Sevilla as I did, I would have given a press conference today, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve taken in my life and I would have signed for Madrid over and over again”
- "As for the question of being a money-grabber, ultimately there are all sorts of opinions out there, but when people want to give those opinions, they should check their information or be aware of the story. The president has known for three of four months now that my issue wasn’t financial and that it was to do with the years on my contract because I wanted two but they would only give me one and it was to give my family and myself that peace of mind and continuity that I think I’ve earned."
Transfer Value:
Sergio Ramos being one of the Greatest players of all time will be sought after by several clubs this summer. He ticks every box as a defender. He defends phenomenally, scores from set-pieces, leads the team and is also vocal.
He is valued at around €9.5 million but will leave Real Madrid on a free transfer due to no existing contract that binds him to the club or has a release clause. Ramos is another legend who has been disrespected by the club and ousted like Cristiano Ronaldo and Iker Casillas in recent years. The sole difference is that Perez manged to bag €100m on the Ronaldo deal but is letting Ramos go on a free. In reality if Ramos had re-signed the contract and then been sold he would have been sold well over his market value of €9.5m; somewhere around €30-40m would have been the starting offers.
Next Club:
From before Ramos left officially he had started getting linked to several clubs like Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United and City, Sevilla(Ramos has officially said 'no' to Sevilla) and even Juventus.
We feel that the club out of the above offering the highest wages should mostly be the one landing Ramos for a year or two. This being said PSG, Man City and Chelsea can easily afford him; however Pep's City have more than enough Centre-Backs and so do Chelsea who are in the market for a Centre-Back but a young one to replace Thiago Silva/Azpilicueta. So, PSG with all its lucrative attractions and thirst for the UCL look most likely to get the legend at Parc de Princes.
PSG 1/1
Man City 3/1
Man Utd 6/1
Juventus 8/1
Liverpool 10/1
Bayern Munich 12/1
Chelsea 14/1
