Joana Laporta and Barcelona 2021 | Restructureing

     Joana Laporta 2.0

On 23rd January 2014,Josep Maria Bartomeu took over the reigns of Presidentship of FC Barcelona.Under him they won the treble in 2015 along with the famous MSN trio and went on to win a total of 13 trophies. However, the end of his tenure was not the best of ways as in October 2020 he was ousted from the club and arrested by the Spanish Police in the coming days. All this coming after years of corruption, big money flop signings and 'bottling'several times in the UCL.

However, in 2021 after Joana Laoprta(who also was President from 2003-2010)was reinstated as club President after almost a decade the club looks on the verge of returning to its former greatness of the 2000s.

In this article we will be looking at the way Laporta is going about to overcome FCB's huge debt of about 323 million and how Laporta is making signings that will benefit the club.

Financial Stability:

After Bartomeu was ousted from the in October 2020 and arrested for fraud in the coming days, Barcelona as a club and fanbase was totally shaken. Although Bartomeu leaving was for the better of the club it must be noted that when he left they had no leader,an outstanding debt of approximately €323 million, Messi wanting to leave, Suarez already being sent to Atletico Madrid and talks of the ESL being ignited.
The entire club was a mess and Laporta has come in at the right time and might just ave Barcelona from embarrassment. One of the 1st steps he took was to arrange a loan of €500m from Goldman Sachs to try and pay off the initial debt, lure Messi into a new contract and make better signings. Over the past week the loan has helped Barcelona a lot who have now already come to a verbal agreement with some top players and is now bound to land them at Camp Nou.

Transfer Market:

In this section we look at some of the nearly done signings by Laporta so far.

Signings:

Aguero: Laportas biggest nearly complete signing so far is the legendary Kun Aguero. After selling 33 yr old Luis Suarez last summer for a mere €6 m and replacing him with Martin Braithwaite, Barcelona were back in the market for a class ST and who better than Aguero that to on a free transfer.

He is prepared to take a pay cut to join(rumored to be less than €10m/year),his link up with fellow Argentine Messi is out of the world and he has accepted the contract till 2023 which is a very lucrative contract for a 33yr old.

The contract also specifies a bonus of a certain amount on the occasion of Aguero winning the UCL by 2023 with FCB.Aguero is likely to announce the deal after the UCL final against Chelsea in 2 days time

Wijnaldum and Eric GarciaLiverpool Midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is also expected to join Barcelona on a free transfer as reported this week.He too will take a pay cut to join the Catlans and and sign a contract till 2024.He beleives in FCB's project under Laporta and turned down clubs like Bayern and PSG.
Man City Centre-Back Eric Garcia too is expected to be announced soon after deals were completed long before Aguero and Wijnaldums deals too.He is also a free agent and will sign till 2026.

OthersJoana Laportas spree of signing free agents is expected to continue as they will most likely sign Lyon star Memphis Depay to replace the horribly misfiring Ousmane Dembele and give competition of place to Griezmann.
AC Milan Goalie Gianluigi Donnurma has also been linked although there are yet no concrete links.
